Our story
Hello I’m Troy Parsonage older brother to my sister Lily, a young girl with down syndrome. Throughout her life we have struggled repeatedly to find a swimming teacher that can connect with Lily’s needs and supply her with the support she requires in a swimming pool. Nevertheless, my sister’s love for swimming has never faltered. This Inspired me to Start Lily-Pad, a swimming school dedicated to helping people like my sister, pursue their love of swimming, in an environment they both enjoy, and feel safe in.
Lily-Pad’s mission is to provide exceptional, inclusive and exciting swimming lessons to people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). These include but are not limited to:
- Autism spectrum conditions
- ADHD
- Down’s syndrome
- Anxiety disorders
At Lily-Pad we’re passionate about teaching children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), life saving swimming skills. We do this by ensuring that the following values remain are priority:
- A vibrant and supportive environment where accomplishments are celebrated and enjoyment is encouraged
- Lessons that are adapted based on participants’ preferences and individual needs.
